Is Actress Lindsay Lohan Muslim?
Lindsay Lohan, born Lindsay Dee Lohan on July 2nd 1986, is an American actress, movie star, singer and global icon who has appeared in huge blockbuster movies over the last 30 years.
With roles in smash hits like "The Parent Trap" and "Mean Girls", Lohan catapulted to fame in the 2000s, but hit a rocky career patch soon after with poorly reviewed film flops and visits to rehab for addiction.
Did Lindsay Lohan grow up in a religious family?
Lindsay Lohan was born in the Bronx neighbourhood in New York, USA, to Catholic parents; Dina and Michael Lohan. Her father Michael was a former Wall Street trader and her mother is a former singer.
Despite her Roman Catholic upbringing, Lohan entered into the limelight at an extremely young age. She became a child model for brands like Calvin Klein and Abercrombie and then, at the age of just ten, became the star of The Parent Trap which earned $92 million worldwide.
At such an early age, Lindsay Lohan's own faith was never discussed.
So, is Lindsay Lohan a Muslim? 🕌
In 2015, Lindsay Lohan was spotted by the paparazzi carrying a copy of the Quran, the holy book of Islam. In a later interview, Lohan says that the Quran was gifted to her by Arab friends living in London, who she said became her closest confidantes when she was going through her addiction issues. She also mentioned on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan that the version of the Quran she was holding had translation and that she was reading it in English as she "found solace" in it.
Lohan took her exploration of Islam a step further when she moved to Dubai, a predominantly Muslim city in the United Arab Emirates, and began studying Arabic. Her social media presence began reflecting Islamic greetings and phrases, showing her followers a glimpse of her journey into the world of Islam. Model Bella Hadid also regularly posts Muslim-themed content on her social media.
In fact Lohan mentioned how she changed the background of her phone to the words "Assalamualaikum" which means "Peace be unto you" in Arabic.
However, she still has not confirmed whether she has become a Muslim or not.
Lohan spotted wearing a headscarf
On a visit to Turkey, Lohan against courted controversy with American press when she was seen wearing a headscarf.
In an interview seen on Islam Channel, Lohan explains that she was given this headscarf by a Turkish woman and she was so moved by the generous gesture, she decided to wear it for the rest of the day.
Lohan says that she also wore a headscarf while flying into New York City airport and was stopped at border control. After the agent realised she was Lindsay Lohan, she was let through security but asked to remove her headscarf. Lindsay admits being horrified and worried that the same thing could happen to another woman who wouldn't have been so comfortable removing the hijab.
